COWI has taken over the specialist wind company Tripod Wind.  In so doing, COWI’s strategic commitment to rank among the very top wind energy consultants at global level has moved a step closer.
 
Tripod Wind Energy is a small-scale company with five employees. For more than 27 years the company has been engaged in wind energy at global level and has been involved in more than 200 wind turbine projects in 40 countries.

COWI prioritises climate

”The commitment to wind energy needs to be viewed in the context of COWI’s strength in the climate field and its strategic priority-setting of climatically related services,” according to the Head of Business Development, Wind Energy, Marc Normann:

With our existing skill sets and Tripod’s specialist knowledge, we have laid the foundation for additional expansion in the wind sector."

Measurements on turbines

Tripod is one of the few consultancy companies certified to conduct measurements on turbines. The company’s spearhead competences are within wind resources, where Tripod has many years’ experience with wind measurements and wind studies.

In addition, Tripod carries out wind-load calculations and load measurements for wind turbine manufacturers as part of the type approval for turbines. Tripod commands expertise within both onshore and offshore wind turbines, where COWI already ranks among the world’s leading consultants.
