COWI has extensive in-house expertise of numerical modelling simulation of waves, water levels, currents and coastal morphology.

Numerical modelling - a powerful tool

We use numerical modelling suite MIKE21 when assessing design conditions for man-made interventions in the marine environment.
MIKE21 and LITPACK modelling tools are also used to determine the immediate and long term impact of construction in terms of water quality and coastal morphology.

Definition of design events

COWI performs statistical analyses of hydraulic data and definition of extreme wind, wave and water level combinations.
 

Waves

Numerical modelling of waves is an integrated part of our coastline morphology studies and port planning.

It is also used in the design of coastal protection, breakwaters, jetties and offshore wind turbine foundations.
