3D visualization 

In recent years, COWI has followed the development of 3D visualizations and 3D city models.
We have also carried out several projects in this respect, including 3D visualization of a new light rail along Ring Road 3 in Copenhagen and a 3D model for Aaboulevarden in Aalborg.

As a natural part of the design studies that relate to roads, bridges, airports, harbours and buildings, COWI has established its own specialized team, working on visualization of any kinds of design studies.

Improved basis for decision

3D visualizations make it possible to present complex problems in a reasonable way and are therefore suitable for especially public discussions about positive and negative consequences of a building project.

The possibility of evaluating future building work already at the draft stage ensures that other buildings as well as the public sphere of the city are taken into consideration when designing buildings.

3D modelling

Our employees use the 3DS-Max programme as a platform for visualization of projects. Height models are often used in combination with orthophotos as basis for 3D visualization.

Still photographs or animations

An economic and fast solution is to produce still photographs, which show selected parts of the digital model. Still photographs are obtainable in many different data formats for use in information brochures, campaigns, etc.

Digital video clips can be developed to obtain a more advanced result. These clips are often used where the projects include large areas with demands on aesthetics and where the surrounding environment is in focus.
