Cable supported bridges 

COWI is renowned worldwide for our cable stayed and suspension bridge expertise. At present COWI is involved in more than 20 different cable supported bridges throughout the world.

World-class bridges

COWI has designed some of the world’s largest bridges, including the 1018m main span Stonecutters cable stayed bridge in Hong Kong and the 1624m main span Great Belt suspension bridge in Denmark.

Innovations

Today's innovations are often tomorrow's best practices. This applies to dehumidification of the interior of box girders for corrosion protection. Introduced by COWI on the Little Belt bridge in 1970, it is now used worldwide.

Design for contractors

Cost-effective bid designs by COWI prepared for contractors have, for instance, led to construction contracts for the Faroe bridges in Denmark, the Normandy bridge in France and for the Öresund bridges between Denmark and Sweden.
