The risk of accidental releases of oil and other hazardous materials from ships is assessed. The assessment forms a basis for planning of harbours and terminals as well as for preparation of oil spill contingency plans. The fate of an oil spill and the subsequent consequences to the environment in addition to other consequential damage is assessed by COWI's environmentalists, biologists and economists. Possible risk control options (RCOs) are identified and their cost-effectiveness is assessed.
