Stations and terminals, railways

An important part of all railway and metro facilities are the passenger-oriented areas such as stations and terminals where all passengers get on and off and change means of transport.

Besides the purely technical aspects to be considered when constructing stations and terminals, it is important, at an early stage, to focus on the passengers' experience when using the facilities. Stations and terminals including station areas must be constructed in a way which is aesthetically and traffically appropriate to make the passengers feel safe and to be able to easily find their way to the means of transport they wish to use.

Overall solution

The planning and design of stations and terminals require input from a lot of disciplines including traffic planning, civil works, structures, installations and railway engineering. COWI has the necessary qualifications and, in recent years, in cooperation with architects we have been responsible for design, follow-up and supervision of several railway and metro stations and terminals in Denmark.
