COWI appointed as designer
COWI has been appointed as marine designer by contractor Archirodon for the new LNG facility at Idku, Egypt.
The marine terminal will provide berthing, mooring and handling of LNG carriers ranging in capacity from 70,000 to 140,000m3, both of membrane and spherical type.
COWI will be responsible for the design of a 2.5 km access trestle, berthing head, loading platforms, tug berths, an 850m rubble mound breakwater in 12m water depth and a construction harbour.
The project will have a challenging time schedule, with detailed design finalised after 15 weeks.
COWI's overseas marine work has expanded in recent years and COWI is now a key player in this market. This new challenging project is an important milestone for our continuing development.
