COWI strengthens its business area for Geographical Information Systems
COWI strengthens its business area for Geographical Information System (GIS) by taking over the activities of the company ALIGRAPH on 1 February 2002.
According to the agreement between the two companies, COWI will take over ALIGRAPH's GIS software products. At the same time, Erling Kristensen, managing director of ALIGRAPH, will be employed as Senior GIS consultant at COWI's headquarters in Lyngby. This will strengthen the quality of service to both companies' clients.
"We are very excited about the agreement and look forward to continue to offer ALIGRAPH's clients professional service from COWI's offices all over the country. The agreement also enables COWI to intensify and strengthen our resources and thereby improve service levels for our clients, particularly on Zeeland," says Jørgen Pedersen, R&D Manager at COWI's regional office in Aalborg.
For the past two years COWI and ALIGRAPH, which is based in Helsingør north of Copenhagen, have been cooperating within the area of GIS under a formal collaborative agreement. With the new agreement, COWI's entire team of GIS advisors and know-how will be made available to ALIGRAPH's clients. COWI will also maintain and service the software products under the new agreement.
COWI is known for its utility mapping software within sewerage, water, heating and electricity, programs for road design and handling road equipment, operation and maintenance, as well as web solutions for distributing environmental and GIS data. ALIGRAPH is known for its software within GIS, mapping, utility mapping, plotting systems and web solutions. The two companies service a total of more than 100 clients, primarily public sector companies and utilities.
