Off shore wind turbines
The second largest wind turbine park in the country, Nysted Havmøllepark, will emerge from the waves off the island of Lolland.
In October 2003, 72 wind turbines will stand like sentinels in the sea south of Lolland. The wind turbine park Nysted Havmøllepark, will be second in size only to the park off Horns Rev, and have an annual production of 500 million kW, enough to supply 110,000 households.
COWI is acting as consultant to the contractor Per Aasleff A/S in the detail design of the foundation for the turbines and associated equipment. The project is being implemented for a consortium comprising ENERGI E2, DONG and Sydkraft.
"The project is of strategic importance and will be COWI’s largest venture in the area. We hope that the project will equip us to take on further similar assignments both in Denmark and abroad," says Project Manager Jørn Thomsen.
The work involves geotechnical studies and structural design of the foundation, that will consist of concrete caissons, weighing 1,600 -1,800 tonnes, at a depth of six to ten metres. Work will begin at the end of June this year.
