Project Easy-Go, Hartmann
During the past 6-8 years, COWI's industrial departments have assisted Brdr. Hartmann in several projects, including a CHP plant and establishment of a clean-room production cell at the factory in Tønder.
COWI has undertaken the management of the project "Easy Go" at Brdr. Hartmann.
The "Easy Go" concept is Hartmann's answer to increasing demands from clients on packing and delivery of manufactured goods, such as egg trays on pallets. So far, the group's supplies concerning packing, stock and distribution have been based on delivery of manufactured goods in bags.
The "Easy Go" concept gives Hartmann logistic advantages by using modern standardised ways of distribution on Euro pallets. The advantages are less loading time, less manual handling, optimal stock handling and, not least, easier handling at the customers. The project has strategic importance to Hartmann and will be implemented at the factories in Tønder (Denmark), Germany, Hungary and Croatia. A total of 38 production lines in all are involved.
Technically, Hartmann's production lines must be dismounted and reconstructed - from packing of egg trays in bags, through palletising by robots to finished goods conveyor belts.
Instead, fully automatic packing lines will be established, based on recording of egg trays into "bars", which are afterwards piled up on Euro pallets by robots. The pallets are conveyed to "wrapping" with plastic wrapper by conveyor belts and bar code labelling.
COWI's task is project management and coordination of the project organisation, which mainly consists of staff from Hartmann. Furthermore, there is an essential task in sparring with and supporting the project groups, especially as to automation and information technology. Moreover, assistance is given to foreign project groups established by Hartmann at the factories where the concept is to be implemented.
