Find your new business premises on the Internet
A new Internet portal aims to attract foreign investment to the Copenhagen region.
A new combination of detailed aerial photos and representative business premises aims to attract foreign companies to set up business or lease premises in the Greater Copenhagen area.
In collaboration with trade promotion officers in the region, Copenhagen Capacity and the Greater Copenhagen Authority have recently developed a new portal called Copenhagen Locations.
See a selection
The portal utilises a new technology within Geographic Information Systems (GIS) known as HyperGIS.
The technology, which is animation-based, enables users to view a selection of available sites, industrial and office space, laboratory facilities and office hotels where fully equipped offices can be rented.
The functionality is based on aerial photos which are linked to street and place names etc. Using the interactive map, the user can click and view individual aerial photos to gain an overview of the infrastructure in the Greater Copenhagen area and identify where in the region interesting sites or leasehold properties can be found.
The user can also access information such as the proximity of potential locations to the airport, which other international companies are in the same area, and the training and research institutes that lie within a given distance.
Make the marketing prominent
"The main aim is to encourage foreign investment in the Greater Copenhagen area," explains Copenhagen Capacity development manager Claus Frelle-Petersen, "although with this new tool we are also aiming to make our marketing prominent in the region."
COWI has supplied the new homepage system in its entirety, including the so-called orthophotos (aerial photos). In addition, COWI has collected a wide range of data on business sites and industrial and office space, much of it based on COWI’s own experiences gained from studies previously carried out for companies wishing to establish operations in Denmark.
Denmark - an attractive location
For some years, COWI has been assisting Copenhagen Capacity with technical knowledge and know-how to facilitate requests from foreign companies for information about business premises in Denmark.
The aim is to present Denmark as an attractive location for foreign companies seeking, for instance, an international head office location or good research environments, as well as for companies in sectors such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, IT, telecommunications and logistics, where a thriving environment is already an established feature of the region.
One example is the Øresund region's Medicon Valley, which has one of the biggest concentrations of biotech companies anywhere in Europe.

Copenhagen Capacity
Copenhagen Capacity is the official investment development organisation for the Greater Copenhagen area for foreign companies wishing to establish a presence or expand in the region.
Copenhagen Capacity was established in 1994 by Copenhagen City Council, the counties of Copenhagen, Frederiksborg, Roskilde and Frederiksberg, and Copenhagen’s municipalities, and is financed by the Greater Copenhagen Authority.
The Copenhagen Locations homepage (see box on right) presents a range of examples covering four different ways to establish a business presence in the Greater Copenhagen area:
Sites
Industrial and office space
Office hotels
Laboratory facilities
Copenhagen Locations also contains information about:
Infrastructure of the Greater Copenhagen area and special characteristics of the different areas that make up the region
Property market
Locations of existing companies in the region, including international brands, research and educational/training institutions, head offices and leading companies within sectors such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, IT, telecommunications and logistics.
