Four new directors in COWI
COWI has appointed four new directors who strengthen the consultancy group in an increasingly competitive situation at international level
Lars-Peter Søbye
Lars-Peter Søbye, 44, has been appointed Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for the Danish market. In this capacity he has also joined COWI’s executive board. Lars-Peter Søbye has risen through COWI’s own ranks.
A divisional director of the Industry and Energy division since 2003, he commenced his career with COWI in 1985 in Århus. In 1993 he was appointed manager of the Building Department in Århus, and from 1997 to 2000 he held the position of general manager with COWI and partner LLC in Oman.
On returning home he was appointed regional director of Region Midt in Jutland, a position he held until 2003 when he became interim divisional director of Industry and Energy. Lars-Peter Søbye graduated as a civil engineer, building constructions, from Aalborg University Centre in 1985. He has been a member of the board of directors of the COWI Foundation since 1 June 2004.
Birgitte Brinch Madsen
Birgitte Brinch Madsen, 41, has been appointed director of Industry and Energy. Birgitte Brinch Madsen, who holds an MA (Econ.) degree, joined COWI in 1996. She has worked in the energy sector since 1984.
Birgitte Brinch Madsen has experience of the energy, oil and gas markets, and has previously worked with sales to Danish industry. She has broad international experience from assignments in Europe, the third world and China.
Rasmus Ødum
Rasmus Ødum, 38, has been appointed director of Geographic Information and IT. Rasmus Ødum has worked with development planning in Latin America, south-east Asia and Africa. COWI’s acquisition of Kampsax in 2002 saw a shift in his areas of responsibility towards management and strategy.
From 2001 to 2003 Rasmus Ødum was project manager with the Development Planning division, and from 1997 to 2001 economist and institutional planner in the Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Infrastructure department. Rasmus Ødum holds an M.Sc (Agr. Econ.) from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University of Denmark.
Henrik Rossen
Henrik Rossen, 47, has been appointed director of Building and Operation. Henrik Rossen joined COWI from Carl Bro where, in his capacity as deputy managing director, he was a member of the executive board of the Carl Bro Group from March to September 2003.
Previously he worked for 4½ years as managing director of Carl Bro UK & Ireland Ltd., heading a staff of 600. In addition to holding a university degree in engineering, Henrik Rossen received an Executive MBA from SIMI in 1996. His specialist consultancy field is heating, water and sanitation.
