Strong first half for COWI

Profit/EBIT up by 20% increase to mDKK 57
The international consulting group COWI A/S emerged from H1 2005 with an operating profit of mDKK 57, up 20 percent over last year's interim results of mDKK 48.

The profit was generated on the basis of a turnover of mDKK 1,293 - a rise of 4 percent.

Profit before tax increased by 32 percent from mDKK 53 to mDKK 70, and profit for the period rose from DKK 31m to 61m, up 95 percent. Operating margin rose from 3.8 to 4.4 percent.

- COWI's performance is satisfactory, says Klaus H. Ostenfeld, President and CEO. He adds that COWI is anticipating continued sound demand for consulting services on both the Danish and Norwegian domestic markets as well as internationally during the remainder of 2005. 60 percent of COWI's turnover is derived from markets outside Denmark.

In Denmark the development in building, particularly housing construction, led to sound demand. In Norway economic growth generated stable demand in a number of sectors. COWI's international presence generated a series of large contracts for bridges and airports.

Compared to 2004, Klaus H. Ostenfeld anticipates growth in turnover for the whole of 2005 to result in higher profitability and thus a higher operating margin.
