COWI wins iconic Naikun offshore energy project in British Columbia, Canada

​COWI has been selected by NaiKun Wind Energy Group, Inc. of Vancouver, British Columbia (BC), Canada to provide technical and project management services for a major offshore wind project.​

​NaiKun is focused on developing Canada’s first offshore wind energy project off the northwest Pacific Located in Hecate Strait, between Haida Gwaii and Prince Rupert. Up to 110 turbines will provide clean, renewable energy to meet BC.’s growing electricity needs.

COWI cooperation across the Atlantic

NaiKun's project received a Canadian Federal Government environmental approval in 2011 and is currently being further developed in preparation for an investment decision. The project will include structural, marine, geotechnical, ocean, and offshore wind farm engineering.

Buckland & Taylor Ltd. (B&T), with support from parent company COWI and sister company Ocean and Coastal Consultants, Inc., are providing local project management coordination and expert engineering and technical support for this project.

Sustainable solutions

The project’s vision underlines COWI's leadership and innovative approach in sustainable solutions. "The NaiKun project is an important win" said Steve Hunt, President & CEO of COWI North America.

This project provides a tremendous opportunity for collaboration and promotes knowledge sharing between COWI sister companies.
