During 2009 and 2010 COWI's aircrafts will carry out aerial photography and laser scanning of 65.3 thousand sq km.

The project is the first of its kind in a country of the former Soviet Union.

An updated nationwide map productThe project includes aerial photography, laser scanning, height model processing and production of orthophoto maps in 50 cm resolution. In 2009 COWI has completed and delivered height model and orthophoto maps for approx. 25 thousand sq km. The remaining part of the production is scheduled to be carried out in 2010.

Tough competition COWI won the mapping assignment in tough competition with four other mapping and consulting companies.

Financed by the Lithuanian state
The project is financed exclusively by the Lithuanian state budget without any support from EU or other donors and is one of the largest consulting assignments in Lithuania today. This fact should furthermore be seen in the light of how hard today's economical recession has hit the economy of Lithuania.
