The Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) is building a new multimedia house in Ørestad in Copenhagen. Since the inception of the landmark project in 1999, COWI has been retained as client adviser to DR.
DR's facilities for making television and radio was previously spread throughout Copenhagen and its suburbs. In an effort to streamline and prepare the organisation for future challenges in a highly competitive media market, DR decided to relocate to a new multimedia house in Ørestad, a new neighbourhood in Copenhagen. The project comprises 125,000 m2 in total with studios, workshops, administration and editorial offices, and storage facilities for more than 3000 employees. The project further includes a state-of-the-art concert hall designed by French architect Jean Nouvel.
The initial planning of the project started i 1999. The new multimedia house for DR is expected to be completed by 2008. COWI's services comprise among other things:
