University of Nizwa, Oman

COWI & Partners LLC is heavily involved in the development of a new university in the city of Nizwa in Oman. When fully developed the university will provide a modern learning environment for more than 20,000 students.

A centre of learning

The University of Nizwa is planned on a new 1,960,000 m² (1.4km x 1.4km) site to the south of Nizwa and will ultimately house a total of 20,000 students in 6 faculty colleges.

Nizwa, the second largest urban community in the Sultanate of Oman, was once the ancient capital, the seat of Imam and the traditional centre of Islamic learning. With the new University COWI & Partners are striving to continue this ancient tradition by providing a learning environment that will be conducive to study and provide an enriching experience for all involved in the education process.
Comprehensive services

Work on the new university began in 2003 when COWI were responsible for the University of Nizwa Master Plan.

  • Main Library
  • The Mosque
