Vestas Wind Systems A/S - new R&D-centre, Denmark

Vestas Wind Systems is building a new 18,000 m2 R&D-centre in Århus, Denmark. Vestas wants to create a flexible working environment conducive to interdisciplinary cooperation and innovation.

The new R&D-centre will be situated in Skejby in the northern part of Århus. The centre will contain laboratories and workshops for the development and testing of new components in a combination with office spaces.

Interdisciplinary cooperation

Vestas emphasises that the new house is designed to promote a more flexible organisation where project teams and working methods can vary depending on the current project. In doing so Vestas hopes to create an optimal environment for interdisciplinary cooperation and a better appreciation of the company's values and goals among the employees.

As main consultant COWI is responsible for design management and subsequent construction management on site. In addition we are responsible for the design of structures, installations and special services such as acoustics, fire safety, indoor climate and energy concept.

Vestas' new R&D-centre will be ready for use at the end of 2008.
