New printing house - basis for decision 

The major part of the machinery was outdated. The increasing demand for a cleaner environment led to more rigorous requirements from the authorities - especially critical were the noise and transport conditions.

Therefore, an analysis was performed to evaluate the possibilities of establishing a production based on new, up-to-date technology considering the demands for high flexibility, low environmental impact, low energy consumption and the correct balance between quality and price.

COWI was the technical secretary and carried out the technical and financial consequence calculations of alternative solutions for establishing photogravure and offset printing facilities.

The analysis included alternative locations, stepwise extension, manning and selection of technology, including the application of the newest technique within wireless data communication.

A financial estimate was made of four selected solutions, where the average production prices per weekly and tons of paper were based on the present value of investment and tonnage.

The total investments amount to 65 million EURO. The new printing house was established in the period 2000 - 2001 and commissioned in the spring of 2002.
