Serbia - Production of a nationwide orthophoto 

COWI is to produce a nationwide orthophoto of Serbia in the next 3 years.

Until the autumn of 2010, COWI is to produce a nationwide orthophoto of Serbia, 77,600 km2 in total. The project forms part of the programme of the European Agency for Reconstruction for EU's support to and development of former Yugoslavia.

What does the project include?
The project consists of a number of activities that are to be coordinated from Denmark and Serbia:

  • Aerial photography of all Serbia in 40 cm pixelsize (70,600 km2)
  • Aerial photography of densely populated regions in 20 cm pixelsize (6,260 km2)
  • Aerial photography of 167 cities in 10 cm pixelsize (3,200 km2)
  • Calculation of an existing geoid model for Serbia.
  • GPS-surveying of 2,400 passpoints and control points with GPS.
  • Creation of a digital height model for production of orthophotos in 40, 20 and 10 cm for each scale.

The aerial photography will primarily be carried out with our new Vexcel Ultra digital camera. The aerial photography has started in the spring of 2007 and be completed in the summer of 2010.
