Hyderabad International Airport, India 

COWI A/S in association with Aviaplan of Norway and STUP of India is providing consulting services for preparing the master plan, engineering/architectural design and tender documents for the construction of the new Hyderabad International Airport.

The new greenfield airport is near the village of Shamshabad, approximately 20 km southwest from the centre of Hyderabad. The project is implemented in two phases - phase I is the master planning, design and tendering, while phase II is the construction supervision.

The vision of the project is to build an airport of international standard with emphasis on:

  • Efficient operation and maintenance
  • Environmental friendliness

The new Hyderabad airport is in the opening year forecasted to handle approximately 5 million passengers. Minor expansions will be required to increase the annual capacity to 7 million passengers, while the ultimate passenger capacity is expected to be 40 million passengers per year
