M&E systems for the East Bridge of the Great Belt Link 

The East Bridge of the Great Belt Link carries a motorway across the international shipping route between the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. It comprises a suspension bridge with a main span of 1.6 km and two approach bridges. Total length of the bridge is 6.8 km. The substructures including pylons are made of concrete and the superstructure of steel.

COWI has provided the following consulting services related to electrical and mechanical systems for the bridge:

  • Design of the systems
  • Elaboration of tender documents for contracting
  • Supervision of the works.

The services were provided in joint ventures between COWI and other consulting firms:

  • For electrical systems: H&H/COWI Joint Venture
  • For mechanical systems: CBR Joint Venture.
