Flintholm Station

A new major railway station has been opened near Copenhagen. The station becomes the third biggest station in Denmark
The station connects a new S-train ring line crossing the existing S-train line to Frederikssund and the Metro line to Vanløse and the expected passenger volume is 60,000 per day, of which 40,000 is expected to be transfer passengers.

The Metro line and the existing S-train line are running over the Ring Line, a park and an existing road on approximately 100 metres long bridges. The two crossing lines have an island platform over the Ring Line platforms to obtain the shortest walking distance.

Station areas at each side of the Ring Line has been built with kiss and ride facilities and parking for bicycles. The main area will in addition include parking for busses and taxies.

The station building contains ticket office, a few smaller shops plus staff and technical rooms.

An important aspect in the design is to keep the park open and light, and to create safety for the passengers in the station.

The station was opened on 24. January 2004. In 2005, Flintholm Station received the European Award for Steel Structures.
