Power distribution, rural areas of Bacau, Romania

The feasibility study covered rehabilitation and reinforcement of power distribution in a 20,000 sq.m. rural area with a number of villages with-out power supply. The power distribution comprised 110 kV and 20 kV high-voltage systems as well as low-voltage systems.
The aim of the rehabilitation was to bring the area up to EU standards.

The first part of the study comprised audits of the methods currently used by the local electricity utility company in Bacau and elaboration of plans for improving and changing these methods to comply with the methods of electrical utilities in EU countries. It comprised planning and execution of courses for the utility personnel. The results of this part of the study can be implemented in all electrical utility companies in Romania. Special attention was given to planning and contracting methods.

The second part of the study comprised the demand forecast up to the year of 2015, involving assessment of the condition of the present components and systems, and a plan for the development of optimized 110 kV and 20 kV transmission and distribution systems as well as low-voltage target systems.

The study included a four-stage rehabilitation plan, a detailed cost estimate and a maintenance plan for the installations.
