Environmentally friendly design is the client's guarantee that environmental considerations are thought into the project and systematically documented. COWI's environmentally friendly planning can be tailored to suit the size and scope of the project.

Environmentally friendly planning ensures that a project's environmental impact is as limited as the situation permits. By approaching a project from a sustainable perspective, we can help provide outcomes that live up to tomorrow's environmental standards.

Environmentally friendly planning pays

Including overall cost calculations as a natural part of environmentally friendly planning makes it easy to gain an overview of the most cost-effective methods to reduce environmental impact.

COWI is conscious of the cost of maintenance once the work has been completed and ensures that the efforts to reduce a project's environmental impact are proportional to the scope of the project, the technological limitations and the costs.

Systematic and focused

COWI develops simple, effective environmentally friendly planning tools based on the Danish Environment Ministry's Handbook for Environmentally friendly Planning.

Our project planning begins by mapping the environmental impacts that can arise during construction work. Doing so allows us to concentrate our efforts on the key environmental and occupational health and safety issues during project planning as well as during construction.

Planning and documentation

One of the most important tools we can employ is the environmental plan which describes the best way to coordinate environmental protection efforts, reporting and other relevant environmental expertise during project planning.

Environmental planning makes it possible to inform everyone working on a project of what the goals are in terms of environment, occupational health and safety, and how this will be implemented in the project.
