Wood-based high-rise buildings

COWI has developed the wood-based building system CASA NOVA which has been used for more than 500 subsidised buildings in Denmark. The system is environmentally friendly and entails, among other things, low energy consumption and a good indoor climate.

Sustainability is about using nature's resources in a sensible way, and CASA NOVA has been developed with the purpose of gaining environmental advantages.

Wood is a very durable building material when it is used in the most optimal way. In respect of CASA NOVA, this means that we use a so-called constructive wood treatment which ensures a long useful life with long maintenance intervals without any use of impregnating products.

Environmentally friendly homes

A large saving is also seen on the energy consumption because the homes' constructive structures enable thick insulation. Furthermore, no degasification takes place in the building materials, and the residents therefore experience a better indoor climate than they normally would. Regarding fire protection, the construction fully complies with the requirements of the building code.
