Emergency preparedness in industry
COWI assists companies in drawing-up emergency plans for dealing with unwanted incidents that constitute a potential threat to human life, the environment or the survival of the company.
Even when every effort has been made to prevent unwanted incidents, an emergency plan will still be needed to ensure that appropriate action is taken, if an accident does occur.
COWI and the client work in close cooperation and systematically identify potential serious accidents. It may be possible to eliminate some accident types entirely. Actions by the company itself, to deal with the remaining types of accident must be properly planned. Correct and timely intervention may be critical for:
Saving lives
Minimizing damage
Preventing escalation
Dealing with the press and other interested parties
Continued operation of the company whilst damage is being repaired.
The interface between the clients' own emergency plan and the public services emergency plan is important. COWI can help by identifying the necessary information.
