COWI offers special services within all aspects of coastal engineering and waterfront development
Within coastal engineering beaches are thus a natural element that is subject to study in connection with man-made structures and coastal protection. Coastal engineering disciplines include the basic physic processes and various engineering disciplines and calculation methods incl. numerical modelling.
It also includes coastal morphology that besides calculation relies on in depth understanding of the movement of sediments due to tides, waves and currents.
These methods and knowledge are also lightly applicable for the study and design of waterfront development projects including man-made beaches and artificial islands. COWI has extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of beaches and coastal engineering including state-of-the-art numerical modelling. This experience originates from numerous projects world wide.
