Contaminated soil and groundwater

COWI conducts all forms of investigations and remediation of contamination for regional and municipal authorities and private land owners.
Contaminated soil and groundwater can pose a risk for indoor climate, activities on the site, drinking water, lakes, rivers and the marine environment.

COWI has worked for 30 years in all areas of contaminated soil and groundwater and has a staff of more than 150 soil and groundwater specialists. Our staff works from our offices in Lyngby, Odense, Vejle, Aarhus and Aalborg.

Technical equipment

We have an extensive and comprehensive list of field equipment, including a mobile soil gas laboratory, the GeoProbe MIP unit that provides continuous soil gas data and allows for intact soil and groundwater sampling. We have drilling rigs, metal detection equipment, equipment to conduct in situ tests and instruments such as photo ionisation detector, field GC-MS and mobile water testing instruments.

Courses and knowledge sharing

The development and communication of knowledge are central elements in COWI's work with soil and groundwater. Using the newest research results, COWI develops ideas and consulting services and arranges courses and seminars for our customers and colleagues. Soil gas measurement, indoor climate and ventilation are just some of the areas where we have developed tools and guidelines for the interpretation of investigation results.
