Electromagnetics
Electromagnetic geophysical techniques are employed extensively in environmental and water resources investigations. COWI employs both frequency-domain and time-domain EM methods.
These EM methods have proven ideal tools for the following objectives:
Groundwater exploration
Mapping large geologic structures
Identifying salt-water intrusion
Determining the depth to an aquitard layer
Stratigraphy mapping
Mapping contamination plumes
TDEM
The Time Domain Electromagnetic method has been extensively employed to investigate the vulnerability of Danish aquifers. As a result advances in both techniques, processing, and analysis have been developed.
Helicopter EM
Helicopter Electromagnetic (HEM) is a frequency-domain electromagnetic method employed in partnership with Fugro Airborne Surveys. The DIGital Helicopter Electromagnetics (DIGHEM) method is used for geological mapping in shallow to moderate depths. Ideal for small survey areas that are difficult to access the HEM method is applicable in a wide range of applications.
Airborne TDEM
In partnership with Geotech and Sky TEM we conduct airborne time-domain electromagnetic surveys. Designed to collect high-resolution continuous measurements the airborne TDEM method produces data that is comparable to land-based systems - and much faster.
