Gravimetrics

Gravimetric studies serve as an essential planning tool for other geophysical investigations as well as being a stand alone service in creating geodetic products.
Historically a key exploration technique, gravity surveys serve as an optimal method in establishing a general view of a study area which is critical for planning more detailed investigations.

COWI employs gravimetric methods for the following objectives:

  • Geodesy (Geoid computation)
  • Regional geology mapping
  • Locate regional fault zones
  • Locating buried valleys

Airborne gravity methods

Through our partnership with the Danish National Space Center we employ airborne gravimetric measurements to perform regional geologic studies. Airborne gravity measurements provide geodetic products of interest to public bodies, academic institutions, exploration companies and construction firms.

Geodetic surveys

We conduct highly precise surveys to determine the size, shape and gravity field of the earth in a localized region.
