Resistivity
Electrical resistivity methods are used to meet a variety of different investigative and mapping objectives. COWI employs a Continuous Vertical Electrical Sounding (CVES) technique for lateral 2-D mapping efforts and Direct Current (DC) soundings for vertical characterizations.
COWI uses electrical resistivity methods to achieve the following aims which are common among our clients:
Characterization of the geology
Mapping contaminant plumes
Determine the depth to aquitard layers
Identify the extent of high aquifers
Map saltwater intrusion
CVES profiling
Ideal for shallow environmental and water resources investigations, CVES is an automated geoelectrical mapping method which makes it possible to obtain large amounts of data in a short period of time.
The survey is taken along a profile line where the apparent resistivity is measured at various focus depths. We combine state-of-the-art equipment, innovative protocols and advanced analytical techniques to provide the customer with high quality data at increased production rates and lower costs.
Direct current soundings
The traditional DC sounding method determines the vertical resistivity layering in the subsurface. The depth to the focus depth increases as the current and potential electrodes are expanded from a fixed location
