Investigations of groundwater chemistry
Evaluations of groundwater chemistry and modelling of geochemical processes are an integral part of COWI's consulting services in groundwater.
A fundamental parameter in the evaluation of groundwater vulnerability is redox conditions. Most problems with regard to drinking water quality can also be related to particular types of water.
COWI has developed methods to characterize redox conditions and investigate ground water types. We are continually developing new techniques to describe natural groundwater quality and contamination of groundwater.
Geochemical models
COWI has expert knowledge in the fields of organic and inorganic chemistry and performs modelling of water quality and chemical processes in the soil matrix. The modelling tools include Macro and DaisyGIS. In addition, we develop our own modelling tools.
Using our detailed knowledge of chemical degradation, sorption and component transport we have developed SICO - a modelling tool to evaluate the vulnerability of groundwater to specific contamination substances.
