Historical aerial photos 

DDO1954 is a historical orthophoto produced on the basis of Basic Cover 1954 - black/white aerial photography from May 1954. The Basic Cover 1954 film was on loan from the Danish National Survey and Cadastre, COWI having scanned the old rolls of films and processed the scans to an orthophoto.

DDO1954 provides - in combination with new maps and orthophotos - a good overview of the historical development of the topography of an area and has a wide variety of applications like:

• Environment: Localisation of sources of soil and groundwater pollution
• City planning: Urban development and rehabilitation projects
• Nature: Planning of nature restoration work
• The photos are from before the mechanisation of agriculture gained momentum
• Research: Cultural history and geography, ecology, etc. 
• Historically interested people and institutions: museums, regional and local
• historians
