Rural development assistance

COWI offers service in rural development for sustainable livelihoods.
Rural communities face challenges of poverty and isolation. COWI’s multidisciplinary teams of social scientists, economists, planners as well as agriculturalists, extension service specialists and natural resource managers provide services to contribute to rural development by addressing accessibility, rural livelihoods, management of infrastructure and services, and capacity building.

Rural electrification, travel and transport

COWI assists with the development of systems for design, installation and management of electricity supplies in rural areas. We seek to enhance rural livelihoods by strengthening transport systems in rural areas, bringing better marketing opportunities for rural producers, as well as social development opportunities to isolated communities. We offer teams for planning and feasibility studies, as well as monitoring and evaluation, and capacity building.

Community development and food security

COWI works in partnerships with NGOs and government agencies to support community-based and sustainable management of local resources and infrastructure. Supporting local agriculture and markets is a key to addressing world hunger at a local scale. We work to ensure that the planning and implementation process is participatory and enhances rural life.
