Rural travel and transport

Poverty and equity need to be addressed. Rural people face particular problems in accessing markets and social and economic services such as hospitals.
COWI's services in rural travel and transport focus on poverty alleviation through:

Planning and feasibility studies
COWI offers support to governments and development partners in the feasibility and development of policies, programmes and projects. We provide specialist expertise in the areas of transport economics, road engineering, rural access, gender and transport and environmental impact assessment.

Capacity building
COWI works to support national and local governments to build their capacity in road management orientated toward performance and competitiveness. We offer specialised services in network planning, access planning, labour based small scale contracting, traffic planning and road safety in resource poor environments.

Monitoring and evaluation
COWI offers services to governments and development partners in the monitoring and evaluation of policies, programmes and projects. This also extends to thematic studies.
