Utility mapping
COWI’s services within utility mapping are based on large investments in the communication and supply lines of the Danish society.
As the network has been created over many years, the documentation is of very varying quality. The geographic locations of supply lines are often mapped on the basis of inadequate map data or, in certain circumstances, not documented at all.
Security of supply is the objective
Security of supply, environmental protection and optimisation of operation require good data. With reliable information about the locations and natures of the utility lines, digging damages can be avoided and repair and replacement of the utility lines can be performed in the most efficient way.
Advantages of digital mapping of utility lines
COWI advises the utilities about the advantages of having the supply lines mapped digitally. Digital mapping of the utility lines provides the following advantages:
Locations and characteristics are stored systematically.
Easy access to the information - also for users without any specialist expertise.
Simple comparison of data about different types of utility lines and base maps.
Flexible extraction and analysis options.
Efficient updating.
Links to register data and consumer information.
