Vector maps
Photogrammetry with modern digital equipment ensures the quality of COWI’s technical maps.
The main part of COWI’s map production takes place through photogrammetry by means of modern digital equipment, the production being based on digital photos.
We produce the maps according to Danish standards, including TK, TOP10DK of the Danish National Survey and Cadastre, DGP of the Road Directorate, or in accordance with standards that are commonly used in other countries.
Definition of a vector map
A digital vector map is a database of vectors, related to certain geographical locations, with attributes and mutual relations.
A well-structured vector map database is a dynamic product that can be integrated with other databases and is suitable for GIS use.
COWI produces various types of vector maps, including detailed technical maps, index maps, and topographic maps.
Use of technical maps
Digital map products are used in several areas of society for:
Handling building projects
Registering and planning utility networks
Optimising routes and carrying out route planning
Surveying distances and areas
Laying down development strategies
Registering location data
Presenting information
