COWI assists civil services in developing clear and undisputed procedures, based upon delegation and horizontal co-operation as well as transparency and reliability. We cooperate with public authorities in Denmark and abroad to streamline and modernise procedures.
Good governance is about enabling the exchange of information across administrative and institutional boundaries, establishing clear lines of command and delegation of authority and ensuring that the public is able to follow civil service proceedings and decision-making processes. Our approach to public administration begins with the individual citizen. S/he is the owner and should expect to be treated accordingly by civil servants and politicians alike. Through this approach, the risk of irregularities and illegal practices in the civil service is reduced.
Our specialists in public administration, sociology, law and democratization work in multidisciplinary groups in developing countries as well as in in Europe, in particular Eastern Europe. We work closely with universities and academic institutions, e.g. the Danish Institute for Human Rights; and with parliamentarians, judges, the police and lawyers.
