A ministry needs a heating strategy which is likely to impact other sectors and will have a number of environmental consequences.COWI builds simulation models in order to test the effects of the alternatives available to our clients. We make use of a number of modelling tools to evaluate the impacts of changes in the market situation or regulation, especially within transport and utilities.
We design and adjust the models to suit our customers’ requirements. For instance, the FEASIBLE model is designed to be able to evaluate a national strategy for water and sanitation, while SWAHILI is able, for instance, to evaluate the impact of trade liberalisation of solid waste handling and treatment in Denmark.CAPOC (Carbon Allowance Pass-On Costs) is a model that describes the impact on firms of CO2 regulation in an imperfectly competitive market. This model is thus suitable for analysis of the environmental and business policies. COWI developed the model for the Danish Environmental Protection Agency.
Reliable and representative data on service and demand are what many important enterprise decisions are based on.We have designed a methodology for data collection which ensures that our customers get valid and representative results. Furthermore, it allows us to conduct the analyses that are most relevant for our customers with regard to decision-making. For EUROSTAT, we have developed a methodology to collect pricing statistics in cooperation with Statistics Denmark.
