COWI has a proven track record of designing offshore wind turbine foundations utilising our expertise with hydraulics, soil structure interaction and structural design.

Choosing the right solution

The suitability of a particular foundation type is determined by many factors, including turbine size, soil conditions, water depth and wave heights - to name but a few.

Optimum solutions are determined by the conceptual design of alternatives such as gravity foundations, monopiles and tripod arrangements.

Our solutions are tailored to fabrication, installation and logistics in the construction phase.

Geophysical and hydrographic data

COWI performs detailed assessment of geophysical data, including soil degradation under cyclic loading.

Hydrographic studies include probabilistic definition of extreme events, numerical modelling of wave disturbance and calculation of wave, current and ice forces.

Detailed design and certification

COWI employs state-of-the-art analytical software to optimize designs, including fatigue and dynamics.

As part of the design process our solutions are certified by a designated organization such as DNV or Germanische Lloyd.
