Optimised solutions

COWI advises on the optimum construction type for any given project by performing conceptual design and life time cost estimation of alternative quay types of quay structures.  

Solutions are often influenced by the presence of existing (historic) structures, design water depth for adjacent structures, existing design loads, time constraints and the need for continued port operations.  

We use advanced numerical analysis tools to model soil - structure interaction. Working globally, COWI is conversant with relevant recognised international codes of practice and the design of structures for seismic events. We provide optimised solutions for the following:

Strengthening Works

Many existing ports require upgrading due to the trend towards increasing vessel size. COWI analyses existing structures and designs appropriate strengthening works such as toe walls and additional ground anchors to enable the deepening of berths.
