Often road authorities face a situation where they have to prioritise resources and at the same time provide the best possible service.
The objective is to avoid traffic delays, reduce accident risk, limit the environmental impact and achieve equal access for all road users.
For more than 25 years, COWI has provided consulting services on the design of traffic installations, road accident analyses, traffic safety plans, and research and development to municipalities, counties and national road authorities in Denmark and abroad.
Public transport
Public transport is constantly seeking to develop more passenger-friendly and efficient services in urban and rural areas.
COWI assist public authorities and transport companies in identifying problems inherent in public transport and in assessing the need for improvements. For each proposed solution, we evaluate the impact on travelling time, changes, availability, capacity, etc.
Congestion
Finally, congestion around major cities increases, and with it, the need for improved traffic flow planning. IT and telecommunication technologies are important tools in this respect. Politicians are now considering new measures, such as road pricing. COWI is an expert in all planning and management tools, including road pricing.
