Increased prices on fuel and the general focus on the reduction of CO2-emissions draws attention to high efficiency production of heat and electricity and use of environment-friendly fuels.
COWI offers all services in connection with the establishment of efficient and environment-friendly production of heat and electricity for domestic as well as for industrial use. We have more than 50 years’ experience in the district heating sector, ranging from systems based on oil-fired boilers and coal-fired boilers to gas-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plants. Today the focus is mainly on renewable sources both for heat and electricity.
An integral part of our work is often to optimize heat supply to local conditions. This results in the lowest possible average cost for heat. We use modern simulation tools and long-term budget models to find the best mix between base load units with low operational (fuel) costs and peak load units with low investment costs. COWI has developed a tool for analyses of the operation of biomass-fired boilers.
COWI offers full services ranging from initial investigation through feasibility analyses, design, tendering and supervision to optimized operation and maintenance of all types of production units.
