COWI's resume in central and eastern Europe includes serving as project manager for the Panavezys CHP facility in Lithuania.

The countries of central and eastern Europe suffered under more than 40 years of communist rule. With the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989 and the breakup of the Soviet Union, COWI saw the opportunity to play a role in the countries' return to the heart of Europe.

As one of the first movers in the region, COWI has participated in nearly 2000 projects in everything from airport design and transport planning to the protection of a primeval forest. A select overview of the projects and news items from the region follows:
