Management principles
We have nine principles that govern good management in COWI.
Our management principles serve three main purposes:
To increase focus on professional management at all levels, and to stress that management must add value to the organisation.
But also to inform COWI employees about management principles and what they may expect and demand from managers in COWI.
The nine management principles are:
The Manager must in word and in deed communicate the values, norms and attitudes that govern the company's work.
The Manager must ensure communication of relevant information and ensure that knowledge is developed and shared at both employee and organisational levels.
The Manager must communicate relevant information both upwards and downwards in the organisation.
The Manager must ensure the availability of adequate resources to enable his employees to reach their targets and develop their personal and professional skills.
Through development of his employees and organisation, the Manager must ensure results in the long term.
The Manager must oversee that we do the right things in the right way to serve the needs of both external and internal customers.
The Manager must demonstrate conformity between words and action.
Management requires presence. The Manager must reach out to his employees and be unambiguous in his commands.
The Manager must actively facilitate and support cross-cutting co-operation that serves the company's overall targets and interests.
