COWI planning installations in tallest building in the nordics

17.04.2018

Bravida has chosen COWI to plan the installations in Karlatornet in Gothenburg. At 245 metres high, and with 73 floors, the tower will be the tallest building in the Nordic region.

Work on Karlatornet is planned to start at the end of 2018 or early in 2019, and will be the first step in the development of the new Gothenburg district of Karlastaden.

In the most intensive phase of construction, the tower will grow by around one floor a week.

The new skyscraper will contain some 590 flats and a 350-room hotel. In 2014, COWI was part of the team which won the architecture competition for Karlastaden, and it has continued to provide various technical services at different stages of Sweden’s most spectacular and exciting urban development project.

Great opportunity to enhance market position

In partnership with the contractor Serneke, Bravida and COWI are responsible for project design, estimation and planning of all installations in the tower. COWI will be handling the electrical and HVAC systems.

Karlatornet was designed by the US architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and is scheduled for completion in 2021.
