Horsens is one of the fastest-growing towns in Denmark. The port area of Jernlageret by the North Harbour in Horsens will thus be developed into an attractive new district with 70,000 m2 of new floor space for public and private housing, businesses and shops where Horsens Fjord meets the town.

Torntoft & Mortensen are working with RUM and COWI to produce the plan for the new area, where creativity takes pride of place in the establishment of a new district to support Horsens’ strong profile as a city of culture and leisure, while also focusing on sustainability.

Among other things, the area will offer a new port canal, promenade and integrated flood protection, infrastructure and public spaces for recreation. The district will be made up of varied buildings with an individual identity and high-quality architecture: Karréen, Kanalhusene, Havnehusene and Pynten.
