The Capital Region of Denmark is building a new, advanced diabetes centre at Herlev Hospital.

The vision for Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen (SDCC) is to offer world-class treatment to patients and a world-class research community.

The centre will cover 8,000 m² and bring together competencies related to treating people with diabetes, clinical diabetes research and education under the same roof, thereby offering more integrated treatment to each individual.

The specialised centre will be able to treat 11,000-13,000 patients a year.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation has granted DKK 2.945 billion (approximately EUR 396 million) for the establishment and operation of Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen.
