Stadium with great indirect benefits to the surrounding area

Cultural and educational buildings Solutions

A football stadium with capacity for 17,233 spectators, and an upper secondary school for 500 pupils with top-class sports facilities. Vålerenga Culture and Sports Park is a large and complex construction project with great indirect benefits to the neighbouring area.
Around the stadium itself there will also be a kindergarten, parking facilities, commercial premises, an exercise studio, shops, a sports bar, a multi-purpose hall and a public square.

The result is not a stadium with a school attached, but rather a school with a stadium.
This is an efficient building with a high level of shared use: The canteen will be used both by the club and by the school, and for home games the school premises will be turned into VIP areas with direct access to the stands.

Large parts of the infrastructure had to be modified because of challenging and complex traffic conditions in the area.

COWI worked on project planning and consulting on the development of Vålerenga Culture and Sports Park in collaboration with HENT AS.
